WIP Wednesday

Do you ever knit something and while you're in the process you just *know* it's not exactly the right size, but you keep knitting anyway hoping you're wrong?  Yeah, I'm doing that right now.  I'm tried these on a couple times and they're snug, but I mean, they're socks, so, is that really a bad thing?  The thing is, they're knit on size 0 needles (the pattern asked for 1s for the legs and 0s for the foot, but I don't have 1s) so they take so dang long to knit I can't bear to frog them...  I'm thinking we'll be alright. =]

I am really into gray and white stripes right now.  I don't know why, but I'm loving them.

Ziva's slippers are in the last stages of being finished.  Yesterday I added elastic around the ankles so they don't fall off when she's walking around.  I had sewn a leather sole to one slipper, but I put it on crooked so I need to start over.  Has anyone done this?  I have leather scraps from the hub's previous employer and I'm not sure if it would be better to have the smooth leather side down or the fuzzyish suede.  Someone who owns Robeez help me out here! ;]  I'm leaning toward smooth, but that seems slippery to me as well!

My hat has been finished, however, I want it to be a little less slouchy, so I plan on frogging it back one less pattern repeat and then redoing the decreases.  I should do that today so I can enjoy wearing it. ;]  We shall see!

What are you working on?  Leave me a link in the comments!

Excuse Maker

At a mere not even 23 months old, Ziva has learned to make excuses.  Actually she only has one excuse.

She uses it to get out of her room when she doesn't want to sleep.

She uses it to try to climb the stairs at my parents' house.

I'm sure she'll start using it for other things.

And she knows it works, because we listen.

"Poop?  Poop?"

What a little rascal.

WIP Wednesday

It's been so long!  Life is busy but I guess I just don't feel like I've had a lot of "blogworthy" happenings going on.  However, I've missed blogging, and knitting is easy for me to talk about! ;]

I'm following along with Ginny's Yarn Along today.  She is always reading something and knitting something, and I admire that she takes time to read for herself with 6 kids in the house!  I decided today to add the books that I actually read most.  These are Ziva's favorites.  Top to bottom: Put Me in the Zoo (aka Zoo!), The Grouchy Ladybug (I don't think she calls this anything, but she does think all ladybugs say, "hey, you!"), I Love My Mommy Because... (aka love the mommy), and If You Give a Cat a Cupcake (aka cats & cakes).

Now onto the knitting!

The green things you see in the left hand corner are fingerless mitts for the hubs.  They're basically done, I just haven't woven in the ends so I included them. ;]

The gray you see in the center is a pair of (soon-to-be) felted slippers for Ziva.  This pattern is really cool and I can't wait to see how they look once I've seamed them and felted them!  I'm also planning on sewing on leather soles for traction from a scrap piece of leather the hubs brought home from his old job awhile back.

And last but not least!  The baby blue on the needle is an aviatrix hat for Ziva.  I just started this this morning and I'm enjoying it so far.  I'm planning on added an oversized crocheted flower to the side, but I'm basically crochet-impaired so we'll see if youtube is good enough!

In other news, I've started planning for Miss Ziva's 2nd birthday and I'm finding it hard to believe!
